My new listing just hit the market four days ago, and it already has an offer.  The closing is scheduled in early October, and we are still showing it for back-up offers.  If you're looking for an acreage with a ranch style home with walk-out basement, you may have just missed a "best buy".  If you let me know what you are looking for, I'll call you as soon as new ones hit the market.

I've been working for a couple of months renovating the first floor of a commercial building in downtown Burlington.  We live in a loft apartment on the 2nd and 3rd floors.  The first floor will soon become my home office complete with wireless internet, fax, and scanner.  The old brick building is circa 1900, built after a fire in the late 1800's destroyed most of the buildings on Main St.  When we built our apartment upstairs, we found newspapers dated 1896.  This first floor was used as a plumbing shop when we purchased it.  I love the location of our Coldwell Banker Great River Realty office on Roosevelt because of the high visibility, but my home office will be convenient for me and many of my clients.  I've already had buyers come in to sign a Purchase Agreement.  When the work is completed, I'm going to have an Open House here to encourage others to restore downtown buildings and perhaps be venturous enough to build loft apartments too. It is wonderful to be close to the banks, attorneys, abstract office, court house, and post office.  Everything I need for my business is within walking distance, and I have use of the back parking lot for The Drake.  Watch for my Open House announcement and come take a peek.  The high tin ceilings are accented so you'll be sure to notice them.  My color scheme is based on an original painting by an Iowa City artist.  The name of it is "Bloom" and it has flowers in yellow, pink, and orange.  I'm also using some Grant Wood prints.  The storefront has been transformed into a "cottage look" with a little porch with white railing.  It's an office that looks like a home----and that is what I sell!
